I am slowly replacing all the fleece throws in our house. As durable as fleece is, they are wearing out.
I decided to go with a neat zig zag stitched egdge instead of the tied edges that the girls helped me do so many years ago. If you are looking for an easy no sew blanket you can do with kids try This Tutorial from A girl and a glue gun
I started with 1.5 yards of two coordinating fleece fabrics. I pre-washed them before laying them out on my kitchen floor so I could use the grid on my floor to square up the sides.
I cut one piece about 1.5 inches smaller to form the top (floral). Then I cut the corners off the bottom piece so I could form a neat mitered corner.
I pinned them together folding the edge of the larger piece over the top to form a binding. No need to finish the raw edges, as fleece doesn’t ravel!
I finished with a zig zag stitch as close to the edge as i could get.
So warm and soft! I love the warmth of two layers and fleece is so easy to work with. Have you made a fleece throw? They make great gifts!
I love this! I like the look of the finished edges! I may have to update a few of mine as well.
Thanks Michele! I love working with fleece. and its toasty warm!
